9/17-9/19 – B/L/D (JV)

20 Sep

9/17 – Dinner
Arang restaurant:
1 plate Bulgogi (BBQ beef)
1/2 plate chicken gizzard

3am – Munchies 😛
Le Petite Merchete – found a pizza place that also delivers gyro sandwiches but also sides of chicken breast slices.
1 plastic bowl of sliced seasoned chicken breasts with some taco sauce I got from Le Vics. Taco sauce was creamy so maybe not such a good idea but I needed some flavor

Tequila and whiskey for drinks that night — “Neat” or straight with no sugary mixes. (that’s how men should drink it anyway ;-)… j/k)

Late lunch:
half a sweet potato from KMSF seminar
Tommy’s Joint
2 meatballs
Buffalo Stew (No rice)

Went shopping at Whole Foods after seminar and wanted to try whip something up. Apparently cooking for 1 isn’t so bad, took around an average of 15 minutes to whip something up.

Salmon Tuna Salad:
Lettuce and Spinach
Half cup of pre-made salmon salad
Olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing

Huevos Rancheros:
4 eggs
1 chorizo sausage

Salmon salad (same as previous post)

Post workout dinner:
Lamb burger
1 Lamb patty from whole foods
2 fried eggs
guacamole and salsa on the side

Munchies: Felt hungry again by 11pm
Mini huevos rancheros
3 slices of chorizo
2 eggs
guac and salsa
some almonds and cashews

I tried making the NORCAL Margarita … major FAIL… tasted like watered down slushy lemonade. I will reattempt to make it another time.

JV, I’m so proud of you dude. these are some great lookin paleo meals. and you cooked them yourself, that’s the best part. dude, cooking for one is the BEST, you get to eat what you want, how you want it and whatever amount.

Dude I want your Guacamole recipe! And I saw on your picture you have the pip mixed with the whole guacamole mix, does it really make it stay fresh longer?

Oh and awesome job keeping paleo for the whole weekend. On the gluten article I read that having grains as often as once every 15 days can actually offset all the clean eating you do through the whole 2 weeks in between. I think Robb Wolf is a strong believer of pure Paleo eating WITHOUT any cheat meals at all.

When I go back Indonesia I want to start a 60 days strict paleo diet. I’m kind of hitting a plateau in my weight loss, so this might help. Also, I’m gonna take a blood test before/after the challenge, and maybe a before/after picture. Let’s keep this scientific and empirical!

Oh also JV, props for your choice of drinks, certainly did yourself a favor excluding all the nasty sugary mixes. Although frankly maybe you can push it a notch, one drinking session a week perhaps (sticking to whiskey on the rocks, red wine and tequila shots)

haha that’s a lot to ask from me hendra… although i have cut down a lot since i started this challenge.. no more weekday drinking… so i guess gradually it’s hitting me to lower down the alcohol comsumption… thanks for the feedback!

The pit I added because the recipe i got it from said to put it there to keep it fresh… i have absolutely no factual evidence that it works.. i actually threw it out last night because i thought a new avocado would grow out of it if i kept it there long enough haha…

With regards to weight loss, i’ve been weighing myself maybe once a week for the last 3 weeks and the weight loss is not significant like it would be on a crash diet but i do feel better and clothes do fit better and healthier which i guess means i have lost some fat… is that what you guys experienced when you first started?

That is exactly how I feel when i first started. I won’t say that I suddenly saw six packs after 6 weeks (i still dont have those), but my whole feeling throughout the day was better. i was less tired and for me at least, i felt less crappier, less stressed =)
