9/14-9/20: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (Sharon)

20 Sep

Hi all,

I’m Brian’s cousin and I’ll be joining you guys to post my Paleo food logs … appreciate any advice from the experts! 🙂

Also, sorry for the long entry below… I was tech-inadequate and didn’t know how to post the food logs for ages……

Tuesday 14th Sept 2010:

Breakfast – 1 Fat Burner smoothie from Crussh (British health food chain): strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries, banana, apple juice, 98% fat free probiotic yoghurt with fat burner booster
Lunch – 1 grilled chicken breast (I think it may have been marinated in a bit of BBQ sauce, but not much) + green salad with sweetcorn + a bit of vinaigrette dressing
Snack – 1 small banana, two handfuls of grapes
Dinner – 2 eggs scrambled + 2 slices of bacon

Wednesday 15th Sept 2010:
Breakfast – scrambled eggs + 2 slices of bacon + some grilled mushrooms
Lunch – a burger patty (without bread) + green salad with sweetcorn + a bit of vinaigrette dressing
Dinner – 1 salmon fillet + spinach and mushrooms stir-fried with some garlic and a bit of olive oil + two handfuls of grapes

Thursday 16th Sept 2010
Breakfast – scrambled eggs + 1 small sausage + 1 slice of bacon
Lunch – chicken chilli soup. It had minced chicken, chopped up vegetables and tomatoes and red kidney beans
Dinner – 3 pieces of frying steak + stir-fried spinach and mushrooms

Friday 17th Sept 2010
Breakfast – omelette with ham and cheese
Snack – one small banana
Lunch – half a burger patty (without bread) + mushy peas
Snack – a couple of slices of peach + some chopped pineapple
Went to the pub after work 😦 – a quarter of half a pint of beer + 2 breaded calamari rings + 2 small breaded mushrooms + 1 cube of goat’s cheese (the breadcrumbs and the beer are definitely not Paleo…)
Supper – one grilled chicken tikka breast fillet + some grapes

Saturday 18th Sept 2010
Lunch – 2 eggs + one grilled chicken tikka breast fillet
Snack – one small banana
Dinner – My absolute favourite – Korean restaurant! galbi + onions + kimchee chigee + some beansprouts starter + one bowl of rice(!!!) + one small piece of toffee candy with chocolate centre

Sunday 19th Sept 2010
Lunch – one pork steak + spinach
Snack – 2 white chocolate cookies
Dinner – went out to a Middle Eastern restaurant…. it was a mezze so I had little bits of everything. the things that I ate that weren’t Paleo were: the rice, the bread, the halloumi cheese, the spicy sauteed potatoes, and the breadcrumbs of the falafel, the baklawa, and the turkish delight. The things that I ate that were Paleo: cubes of marinated lamb and chicken. Also had a non-alcoholic cocktail which contained a few types of fruits and definitely some sugar as it was so yummy.

Not a good Paleo day.

So last week has been relatively ok in terms of trying out the Paleo diet but the smell of fresh bread makes me want to weep and I keep seeing red velvet cupcakes everywhere I go….

welcome sharon! glad to finally see your food log. looks like you’ve been logging what you eat even before you started posting =) your food choices looks good, a lot of whole real foods which are foods you can pick, heat and eat. just be careful not to eat beans, wheat and grains but other than that, looks like you know what you should or should not eat so keep up the good job!!

note: if you have to have alcohol, try not to pick beer. it has a ton of wheat. better wine/hard liquor than beer. chocolate is ok too but choose dark chocolate, at least 80% cacao

it’s hard to get off sugar (carbs ends up being sugar too), that is for sure but once ur off it, you will feel so much better … so if you feel hungry after a meal, that’s just your body craving for the insulin response from sugar. ur not really hungry …
